KOR Football

Robot Football (not soccer) I came across this and thought it’d be a cool thing to post.
It’s kinda like Battlebots but for Football. I’ve allready seen the soccer version of this but this but I still find this stuff cool.

Hardy Heron IS OUT!! Ubuntu 8.04

Woot the new version out, and with it are a few cool features., most importantly the Gnome Virtual File System and the NTFS extension for the boot loader.
What does this mean you ask. well…

1. The GVFS makes using windows file shares just as easy as it is in windows.

2. the new bootloader allows you to boot linux FROM YOUR WINDOWS DRIVE WITHOUT HAVING TO REFORMAT OR PARTITION A THING!!!!
It saves all of ubuntu to a few files on your c: drive. Fucking Hard Drive Emulation!!

Here are a few more vids I pulled from YouTube..
(once again you need the latest version of Flash for these)

this one shows how you can take advantage of the VM optimizations to do some neat things like run windows seamlessly in linux.

and these are just cool effects

LOL Cheep RAID for Notebooks

I know it’s kinda cheating but regardless it’s an awesome solution (if only I could rig this up to work with my PSP)

Using this device (2 card on top one on the bottom) you can set up 3 Compact flash drives as a standard 2.5″ SATA hard drive and use it for your laptop. They also claim this device even supports RAID 5!! Considering how expensive a conventional SSD this is a wicked alternative.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Blood of Zeon

So with the recent release of Menace of Axis for the PSP, I thought I’d go and play it’s predecessor for the PSX.

It’s a nifty little tactical strategy rpg that lets you mess with the continuity of the Universal Century Gundam timeline.
You start out after the signing of the Antarctic Treaty during the One Year War, and then proceed as one of the factions until the end of the Zeta Gundam story.
you can attempt to recreate the Anime’s story as closely as you want, or you can change events in or against your favor. (for example: you can prevent Gihren Zabi from firing the solar ray and murdering his father, or if your the Feddies, you can reject the Zeons offer for peace after the battle of A Boa Qu and continue the war into side 3)

At the onset you can only choose to be either the Earth Federation Space Force, or the Principality of Zeon.
After completing a certain amount of the game you can unlock other factions.
such as:
The Delaz Fleet(Gundam 0083)
The Titans(Helmed by Jamitov Hyman, Z Gundam)
Titans(Controlled by Paptimus Scirocco, Z Gundam)
Haman’s Neo Zeon(Z, and ZZ Gundam)
Casval’s Neo Zeon (Char’s Counterattack)
A.E.U.G (Commanded by Blex Forer and Quattro Bagina)
And a special all female faction of all the female Gundam characters lead by Haman Kahn
This game also has characters and sub plots from 08th MS team, Blue Destiny, Rise from the Ashes and others.

This game plays like a hybrid of SD Gundam G Generation, and Risk.

Here are some of the things I didn’t like about the game though.

The Enemy AI is pathetic, once you figure the three things they do in and out of battle
the game becomes ridiculously easy(still long though)

The game only works with ONE very specific emulator and it’s none of the ones we like to use normally.
(that is, if you were to use an emulator, heh)

Transformable MS are practically nerfed in the way that when they are in flight mode they can’t attack ground units.
(although this isn’t a problem in space, but most of the fighting I did was on Earth)

For the amount of water combat in this game there are surprisingly few units that can traverse water and or attack water units (unless you’re the zeons of course, then you’re just ducky.)

You can’t attack an enemies home base unless you take out all of his other strategic points(important land like Odessa, Jaburo etc.) but he can still attack your main base if he can get to it anyway.

Killing the enemies faction leader does nothing but make him/her respawn later(like all characters do)
but killing yours ends the game.

Most of that isn’t as bad as it sounds though and is just me nitpicking most of it.

Overall I give it a 7/10 when rated as a strategy game or 10/10 when rated as a Gundam game(as it’s like one of four that are actually good)

If only more Gundam games let you mess with the story such as this…

Upgrade was successful, Hurray!

Okay. Now the webiste has been upgraded and your passwords will be much more secure.

Why, you ask? Because security was the main point of the latest WordPress Update, Also there is a pretty gallery feature that I don’t need (I use zenphoto).

However since all the passwords were changed to a new format it may have corrupted the old passwords (it at least did for mine). If you get a 505 error, with a cat saying ok try it now, OR if it just doesn’t accept your password for some reason, Please use the I forgot my password feature to get a new one. I’m sorry about the inconvenience but such things are the stepping stones of progress.

Updates. KOR will be offline.

tomorrow the site will be down for upgrades. (maybe the a few features will be added too) I’d do it today but it’s gonna take a while to get a complete backup of the site done (I already have a few backups but they’re very out of date). The upgrade will move wordpress into the new version 2.5. I’m doing a backup just to make sure that if it breaks the forums I can easily go back to the old version.

Clint Theriault Dies in fatal semi crash.

Above is a video of his last moments recovered from the crash.

I Regret to inform you that Clint, the site admin for KillerOtakuRobots.com has died yesterday after crash on the Yellowhead yesterday. Clint went with his step father Henry (a truck driver for Yankee) for a delivery. Hoevever when traveling east on the Yellowhead yesterday, Henry had a heart attack. Witnesses recall a passed out truck driver and a large man trying to steer the truck away from the other cars. Having failed his drivers license and watching too many Japanese Cartoons he failed to notice that he was driving on the wrong side of the road. To avoid hurting the oncoming traffic forced the truck into the median to slow it down. Unfortunately he was on top of a bridge so he just broke through the median and hurtled download on to the railroad tracks below. He then died instantly in a huge fireball.

This has been all over the news here are a few sites about this and even on youtube.
